Life in the Sea
Fall River Public Library 104 North Main St, Fall River, MALife in the Sea plunges children into the depths of ocean life. Children explore different ocean ecosystems and learn about the plants and animals that live there. Classifying creatures from sharks to sponges gives them a taste of ocean diversity. In Whales to Scale, they compare shark and whale teeth, and measure the size of these incredible predators. Hands-on activities teach the interconnectedness of an ocean food web, and the consequences of overfishing. The Anaglyph Sea Puzzle Take-Home lets children take some 3-D sea creatures home with them. Space is limited; call the children's room to register.

Watercolor Workshop
Fall River Public Library 104 North Main St, Fall River, MAArtist and instructor Lana Quann of The Wandering Brush will guide attendees through painting their own watercolor painting. Beginners are welcome! Space is limited, so please register by contacting the circulation desk at 508-324-2700 ext. 2. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Writer’s Group Intensive Feedback Sessions
Fall River Public Library 104 North Main St, Fall River, MASponsored by the Fall River Public Library Writer’s Group, members have the opportunity to register for monthly feedback intensive sessions. Submit up to 30 pages for in-depth feedback from peers. You must attend at least three regular Writer’s Group meetings to be eligible for feedback intensives. David Wax Museum & Lowland Hum present The Golden Hours
Narrows Center for the Arts 16 Anawan St., Fall River, MAFriday, August 21, 2026 $31 Advance | $33 Day of Show Doors 7pm | Show 8pm Catch the unveiling of The Golden Hours, a new Charlottesville-based band formed by the members of acclaimed indie-folk acts Lowland Hum and David Wax Museum. These musicians have been touring and recording for over 20 years, featured on CBS Saturday Morning and NPR’s Tiny Desk, and lauded by The New York Times, Washington Post, TIME and Rolling Stone, among others. The Golden Hours’ debut record Terra Nova (to be released in 2026) includes “Day Wheel,” an NPR Music Song of the Day. The forthcoming album brings together the power of these four songwriters in an artifact that is simultaneously lush and distilled, emotionally probing, and conceptually expansive.
