Mission to the Moon: Launch It!
Fall River Public Library 104 North Main St, Fall River, MAChildren will create an air-powered rocket that they can launch to hit a distant target! This STEM workshop is designed to spark curiosity and creativity for children ages 8 to 13. All materials will be supplied. Presented by the Society of Women Engineers, New England Shoreline Section. POW/MIA Ceremony, September 13, 2026
American Legion Department of MA will have a POW/MIA Ceremony to remember those who were prisoners of war (POWs) and those missing in action (MIA) on the USS Massachusetts, September 13, 2026. During the ceremony there is a portion where a list of the missing service servicemembers from the state of MA is read. Carnations and a wreath are thrown into the water as a part of the ceremony. Local Boy Scouts will be in attendance and assist with set up and escorting to seats. Please join us. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to Swansea Post 303, 73 Ocean Grove Avenue, Swansea, MA. National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday of September—September 18, 2026—to honor American prisoners of war (POWs).

Organizations will be on hand to provide information and assistance for various community needs such as healthcare, homelessness, immigration, mental health issues, food insecurity, and more. This event is open to all members of the public and no registration is required.

Fall River Public Library 104 North Main St, Fall River, MABoth returning and new members are invited to join us on the third Wednesday of each month for a different kind of book club--one with no required books to read! Instead, everyone can share their own recommendations of a book they're enjoyed recently as we meet for general book chat and afternoon tea. Light refreshments will be served.
