Get ready for the Great LumberJack AXE-Off at Stumpy’s Hatchet House Fall River on September 26! Two-person teams will compete in a preliminary seeding round followed by bracket-style play for a $500 cash prize. Registration is $50 per team, with a minimum of 12 and maximum of 16 teams. Competitors must be 18+ and register by September 19. Doors open at 10 a.m. Spectators ages 6+ are welcome for $10 at the door. Faneek’s Coney Island Hot Dogs will be on-site, with additional refreshments in the works!

One is a Grammy Award winning harmonica player and vocalist, with a 60-plus year Blues legacy and the word “legend” attached to his name. The other is a trio of relative newcomers (Matthew Stubbs – guitar, Cody Nilsen – guitar & vocals, Josh Kiggans – drums), with a reputation for authenticity and visceral performance, who since 2019 have repeatedly topped the Billboard Blues charts and dedicated themselves to a “revival” of traditional Blues. The collaboration may seem unexpected, but it is one long in the making. Harmonica virtuoso Musselwhite invited young Blues guitarist Stubbs into his band in 2008, forging a decades-long relationship of respect, mentorship and a love of traditional Blues. It’s been 17 years together on the road and on the stage, with trust and admiration developed over countless highway miles and hours backstage.
