Mad Science!

Mad Science's Life in the Sea workshop plunges children into the depths of ocean life using a variety of engaging hands-on activities. Children will learn to classify creatures from squids to sponges, compare the size of  shark and whale teeth, learn about the ocean's ecosystem and more. Children will leave with their own take-home activity to further their own exploration of the sea at home. This program is recommended for grades K-12.  Registration is required for this event as space and supplies are limited. Children’s Poetry Day

April is Poetry Month and the Children's Room will be celebrating with a presentation featuring poems and stories from some of children's literature's best loved poets! The morning will highlight such well-known poets as Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, Emily Dickinson, and Dr. Seuss! Kids can also enjoy an easy-to-make craft and a a guest appearance by the Cat in the Hat! A Day in the Life of a Whaling Voyage

Join Nancy Gentile of the New Bedford Whaling Museum and Capt. Michael Taylor, a British merchant mariner, for "A Day in the Life of a Whaling Voyage," an illustrated presentation that takes you into the world of a 19th-century New England whale ship. Learn what life was like aboard these mighty whaling vessels, watch a real-life demonstration of the harpoons that whalers used, and see baleen taken from the massive jaws of a whale. This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Fall River Public Library. Craft Workshop: Jewelry Making

Stephanie will have all of the supplies and tools you need to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings and keychains! All we need is your creativity. Doodles & Comics Workshop

If you are interested in comics, drawing, and telling stories with pictures, the Doodle & Comics Workshop with Cara Bean might be just your thing. The workshop is a basic introduction on how to generate ideas, develop simple storylines, and create characters. Learn easy doodling exercises to help you generate ideas and more. Recommended for children ages 8 to 12. As space and materials are limited, children are required to preregister for this event.
