POESIA: A Celebration of Portuguese Poetry, Waterfront Walk & Reading

Please join us for A Celebration of Portuguese Poetry, Culture, and Fall River Poets as we honor the significant contributions made throughout history to local, national, and international arts and culture. This event opens with a Poetry Walk, meeting at the Gates of Fall River and our Sister City Ponta Delgada, Portugal. We will then proceed to The Monument of Poet João Teixeira de Medeiros at Heritage State Park. And, finally we will meet at the Heritage State Park Visitors Center, just steps away, for a Poetry Reading, a Bilingual Reading of Select Major Portuguese Poets, and a reading of award-winning poems from the Middle and High School Poetry Contest. This event is free and open to the public. Join in the fun as the Greater Fall River community comes together in a unified celebration of the power of the arts and culture to make a difference and change our lives, and our City, for the better. Main St and Sullivan Drive, at Pocasset) >> Visit Old Second Street and attend a an artisan marketplace curated by the Fall River Farmers & Artisans Market! 40 of the area's top makers, crafters, artists, and more! >> On Sullivan Drive (closed to traffic): Food Trucks, entertainment from local dance groups, free arts and crafts for all ages, games and activities for kids, and the Neal McCarthy Band playing from 1:30-3:30 PM (Presented by The Narrows Center for the Arts).
