Pamela Means presents Black Brown and Beige
Pamela Means presents: Black, Brown and Beige, an intergenerational community concert named after a Duke Ellington composition. This family-friendly public event celebrates the artistry and cultural contributions of Black, Brown and Beige people. Demonstrating that throughout history, Black, Brown and Beige artists have used their voices, their lives, their art, to call out injustice, call in community, inspire compassion, assuage pain, instill joy, spread love, and prove possibilities of a brighter, better, and loving world. Pamela will also share her trajectory as an artist, making music for peace and unity, and a commitment to authentic self-expression. Performing a mix of original and cover songs, Pamela Means presents: Black, Brown and Beige will explore the origin stories and lineages of many recognizable "sing-along" songs sung by Harriet Tubman, Leadbelly, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Tracy Chapman, Prince, etc.! This program is support by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency which is support by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Grimshaw-Gudewicz Art Gallery at Bristol Community College 777 Elsbree Street, Fall River, MA, United StatesFebruary 12-April 2, 2026 Opening Reception: Thursday, February 12, 6-8 pm Snowdate Reception: Friday, February 13, 6-8 pm 25 Years, 40 Voices The Grimshaw-Gudewicz Art Gallery’s 25th Anniversary Exhibition gathers together forty artists whose works mark the passage of time across fifty-three exhibitions. From our very first show in 2000 to Full Circle in 2025, these works honor the artists who have shaped this space and the community that has grown with it. When we began planning, we expected to highlight twenty-five works, one for each year. We placed a call for submissions to everyone who had exhibited with us in the past. The forty responses we received revealed a fuller truth: every submission carried the weight of history, memory, and connection. To exclude any voice would diminish the collective story. We decided to include all submissions, creating a living archive within the larger arc of our program, which now spans 141 exhibitions over twenty-five years. This exhibition is both retrospective and forward-looking. It revisits the ideas, materials, and stories that have defined our exhibitions, while reaffirming the gallery’s role as a place of learning, discovery, and dialogue.
