Do you enjoy reading? Starting this May, the Fall River Public Library will be hosting a brand-new book club for children in grades 3-5! Come prepared to talk about a book you have read, what you liked and what you disliked!
The Children’s Room invites our middle grade readers (ages 8-12) to join our monthly book club! On the third Tuesday of every month, we will meet to discuss the assigned title which will be chosen from a selection of popular fiction and nonfiction. Copies of the assigned title will be provided for members to keep! Each month’s title and any related materials will be announced and distributed at the end of the previous session.
Adults are invited to make an accordion book as a medium to display your art, illustrations, photographs or stories. We’ll go over basic tools of bookbinding and learn how to incorporate your own artwork in books. No prior experience necessary. Space is limited; registration is required. Recommended for adults. Main learning objective/take-aways of the class: 1.Familiarize with basic bookbinding tools and bookbinding terminology 2.Learn the intrinsic qualities of paper and folding. 3. Discover ways to tell stories through the art of the book.
All events begin at 6:30 PM Each 90-minute session is led by a guest proctor who will guide us through lively discussions of each featured title. Your $10 registration includes your choice of coffee/tea beverage and a pastry/dessert. Books will be available for purchase at the hosting café in the weeks prior.
