Her gift is being able to take a song from any genre and making it completely her own. To quote the late, great George Jones, "Bettye is truly a 'singer's singer'."These intimate shows feature Bettye performing songs and telling stories from throughout her 64 year career. Hearing Bettye in this setting, stripped down to just her voice and keyboards, is a very captivating experience. Her career began in 1962, at 16 years old, in Detroit, Michigan. Her first single, My Man-He's A Lovin' Man, was on Atlantic Records. Throughout the 60s and 70s, she recorded for several major labels, but was never able to "break through". Join us at the historic Lafayette‑Durfee House for a hands‑on look at how meals were prepared over an open hearth in the 1700s. Visitors will see authentic tools, period ingredients, and traditional methods that brought families and communities together around the fire. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a foodie, or simply curious about daily life in the 18th century, this demonstration offers a warm and engaging afternoon. February 22, 2026 Junior Space Science Investigator- Join us at Battleship Cove as we venture through our Solar System and beyond, and see that space is even bigger than you may have imagined. Girl Scouts will learn about our Solar System and the distance between planets. Additionally, because the planets are never alone in the night sky, Girl Scouts will learn about the stars above them and how sailors used the stars throughout the last centuries to navigate at night. Open to Juniors. Junior: Space Science Investigator Badge included. This does not include touring of the ship as this is an afterhours workshop. This is not a drop off event.
