    The Children’s Room invites our middle grade readers (ages 8-12) to join our monthly book club! On the third Tuesday of every month, we will meet to discuss the assigned title which will be chosen from a selection of popular fiction and nonfiction.  Copies of the assigned title will be provided for members to keep! Each month’s title and any related materials will be announced and distributed at the end of the previous session.

Each young scientist will head home with a selection of custom-mixed slimes—perfect for playing, showing off, and experimenting even more at home.   • Community Kwanzaa: Sewing Workshop

    Craft Your Own Ujimaa-Inspired Table Runner at Our Workshop! In the city of textiles join us for an interactive and festive experience as we celebrate the Kwanzaa principle of Ujimaa (collective work and responsibility). This workshop is more than just creating a beautiful table runner – it's a chance to come together, share love, laughter, and delightful food while embodying the spirit of unity and shared responsibility. Don't miss out on this joyous occasion of creativity and community building! Participants will learn sewing and embroidery techniques while creating their specially designed table runner. The event is free and open to the public. Children ages 6+ must be accompanied by an adult.     Both returning and new members are invited to join us on the third Wednesday of each month for a different kind of book club--one with no required books to read! Instead, everyone can share their own recommendations of a book they're enjoyed recently as we meet for general book chat and afternoon tea. Light refreshments will be served.   • Positive Self Talk Workshop

    Positive self-talk refers to the practice of consciously using optimistic and constructive language when speaking to oneself, either in one's mind or out loud. It involves replacing negative or self-defeating thoughts and innerdialogue with more encouraging, affirming, and empowering statements. Positive self-talk can have a significant impact on one's mental and emotional well-being, as well as their overall outlook on life.
