This project features an exceptional lineup of jazzย heavyweights, blending their unique talents to breathe new life into Ellingtonโsย classic repertoire. Bob Freemanโs arrangements of these Duke Ellington classicsย were originally done for saxophonist David Fathead Newman and had neverย previously been performed live until the debut in 2025. The players have international profiles and an extensive set of credentialsย performing with a whoโs who of the jazz and American music world some ofย which include: Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Nat Adderley, Bonnie Raitt, Kurtย Elling, Slide Hampton, Dave Liebman, Johnny Hartman, and Joe Pass. The Band Leading the charge in the horn section is internationally known recording artist, saxophonist, Dan Moretti, a versatile artist known for his dynamic tone and creative interpretations. Raised in Muskegon, MI, he immersed himself in community theatre, numerous school choirs and productions, and classic rock fueled boat shed jams. A collegiate endeavor in English Literature lead to Kalamazoo, MI which catalyzed the formation and became the home base for Greensky. From humble beginnings, the band quickly became a festival favorite, having performed at such iconic events as Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Festival, Stagecoach, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and countless others in addition to headlining sold out performances at revered venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater, Ryman Auditorium, and The Chicago Theatre. "Greensky are hardly strictly bluegrass and, yet, representing the genre for a whole new generation," claimedย Rolling Stoneย in 2010.
