Get feedback on your work and meet local creatives at this Monthly Artists Share! group, facilitated by Midori Creativity. Artists Share! is a place to share your creative work, get support and feedback, and be part of a wonderful discussion. Hosted by Midori Creativity, we're all about cross-pollination welcoming painters, jewelry makers, fiber artists, photographers, musicians, scultptors and more. Our exhibit, Creative Catalysts, celebrates the interplay and creative exploration that happens when artists of different genres work together. Anyone is welcome and we take turns sharing. Sometimes we are looking at a body of work and other times we are talking about creative identity. The group meets every month, aiming to help each other progress and grow in our work by sharing and exploring together. It's a chance to learn from people whose work may be different from your own but who have insights you could never imagine. We laugh, share ideas, and have fun! Participants can also attend via Zoom. For blanket making, please view the photo below to see a rough estimate of what a blanket using 4 skeins (standard) looks like, 5 skeins, 6 skeins...etc. DISCLAIMER: Final blanket dimensions vary based on each individual's knitting gauge (ie., if you knit tight, your blanket will be smaller and more compact than someone who knits looser). Table space diminishes as blankets get larger. You are welcome to bring a small pillow or yoga mat to sit on, should you choose to move to the floor for more space as your blanket gets taller. Bags will not be provided. If you don't wish carry your project, we encourage you to bring a large tote to carry your blanket and any working yarn home in. As part of New Bedford’s monthly AHA! Night, the First Unitarian Church is honored to welcome author Ieva Jusionyte for a conversation about her recent book, Exit Wounds: How America’s Guns Fuel Violence Across the Border, a Massachusetts Book Awards Nonfiction Honors title. The evening will include a talk about her research and findings, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. Exit Wounds illuminates a major under-reported cause of the violence and corruption plaguing Mexico: the steady flow of U.S. weapons and ammunition across the border. Jusionyte follows the bullets, the stories, and the money, weaving chilling statistics into a gripping narrative. Through interviews with U.S. federal agents, Mexican arms smugglers, and even an ex-cartel assassin, she reveals the staggering human toll that a lucrative American industry inflicts on communities in Mexico. Braiding these stories together with clarity and journalistic verve, Jusionyte exposes a devastating and deeply entrenched cycle. This program is sponsored by the Mass Book Awards Speakers Bureau and is presented in collaboration with the Massachusetts Center for the Book. IEVA JUSIONYTE is an award-winning author, legal anthropologist, and a recipient of MacArthur “Genius” Award. She is the Watson Family University Professor of International Security and Anthropology and Director of […]
