Learn about our neighbors, the first people of Fall River through engaging storytelling and crafts. All materials will be provided. Drop in any time from 12:30PM to 3:00PM.
Science fiction and fantasy lovers are invited to join us for our monthly book discussion group! On the third Thursday of each month, we will meet at 6 pm to talk about a different sci-fi or fantasy book, ranging from new titles to classics. Kim Wilson, the legendary harmonica virtuoso and frontman of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, is preparing for what may be his most personally meaningful tour yet. The upcoming "A Tribute to Chicago Blues" tour represents a homecoming of sorts for Wilson, who cut his teeth playing alongside the very architects of the Chicago blues sound during the genre's golden era. "That's where I live," Wilson says about Chicago blues. "This is what I love. It's what I've always loved. Everything else that I do, I try and put that mojo on it."Early Immersion in the Scene Wilson's connection to Chicago blues runs deep, stretching back to his teenage years when he was fortunate enough to witness and learn from the masters themselves. "I was probably about 16 years old, maybe even 15," Wilson recalls about when he first became aware of the Chicago blues scene. Celebrate Snowball Follies at the library by getting your own frosty face! Faces by Casey will lend her artistic skill in offering snowflakes, polar bears, snowmen and other wintry designs to all the young faces who visit us this morning!
Celebrate local Black history through a family legacy. Learn more about the courage of the 1st Rhode Island Regiment; Black and Indigenous heroes of the American Revolutionary War. Jason Roomes – a proud descendant – will be presenting. This program is presented by the Bristol Black Collective in collaboration with DCR. Meet in the Theater.
