Every two weeks, join the library and several community partners for our community resource day! Organizations will be on hand to provide information and assistance for various community needs such as healthcare, homelessness, immigration, mental health issues, food insecurity, and more. This event is open to all members of the public and no registration is required.
Get feedback on your work and meet local creatives at this Monthly Artists Share! group, facilitated by Midori Creativity. Artists Share! is a place to share your creative work, get support and feedback, and be part of a wonderful discussion. Hosted by Midori Creativity, we're all about cross-pollination welcoming painters, jewelry makers, fiber artists, photographers, musicians, scultptors and more. Our exhibit, Creative Catalysts, celebrates the interplay and creative exploration that happens when artists of different genres work together. Anyone is welcome and we take turns sharing. Sometimes we are looking at a body of work and other times we are talking about creative identity. The group meets every month, aiming to help each other progress and grow in our work by sharing and exploring together. It's a chance to learn from people whose work may be different from your own but who have insights you could never imagine. We laugh, share ideas, and have fun! Participants can also attend via Zoom. Participants are invited to bring their own bracket 2-3 decks, borrow one of ours, or build their own with a selection of the hundreds of cards we have at the library. Don’t know how to play? Science fiction and fantasy lovers are invited to join us for our monthly book discussion group! On the third Thursday of each month, we will meet at 6 pm to talk about a different sci-fi or fantasy book, ranging from new titles to classics. Each month's selection will be announced on this calendar and at the previous meeting. In July, we are discussing The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison. Saturday, October 17, 2026 $50 Advance | $52 Day of Show Doors 7pm | Show 8pm New Orleans-based singer/songwriter and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Eric Lindell melds West Coast rock, swampy Gulf Coast R&B, hard country, and Memphis soul in a hybrid American roots music that, while thoroughly respectful of traditions, blazes a trail of its own. Born in San Mateo, California, Lindell spent much of his youth in nearby Santa Rosa and Forestville. Although he worked as a baker by day, Lindell turned his focus to music in the evenings, honing his chops as a competent vocalist and guitarist by playing in bars around Sonoma County. He produced his debut album, Bring It Back, in 1996, and in 1999 he won the John Lennon Songwriting Competition with his original piece "Kelly Ann." That same year, Lindellrelocated to New Orleans to pursue music as a career. The move was beneficial; Lindell soon hooked up with Galactic's Stanton Moore and began playing shows around town, frequently enlisting drummers Johnny Vidocovich and Harold Brown (from War) to sit in. The Children’s Room invites our middle grade readers (ages 8-12) to join our monthly book club! On the third Tuesday of every month, we will meet to discuss the assigned title which will be chosen from a selection of popular fiction and nonfiction. Copies of the assigned title will be provided for members to keep! Each month’s title and any related materials will be announced and distributed at the end of the previous session.
Both returning and new members are invited to join us on the third Wednesday of each month for a different kind of book club--one with no required books to read! Instead, everyone can share their own recommendations of a book they're enjoyed recently as we meet for general book chat and afternoon tea. Light refreshments will be served. Join The Banned Book Club - a place where we devour literature that has been historically challenged throughout American history. Every 4th Thursday of the month we will discuss what lies beneath these pages and engage in conversation about the importance of the freedom of reading, which is essential to our democracy.
