Fronted by vocalist Sónia Tavares alongside Nuno Gonçalves, John Gonçalves, and Miguel Ribeiro, the band quickly gained attention with their dynamic live performances and independent spirit, founding their own label, La Folie Records, in 1998. Their debut album Vinyl was named Album of the Year by Diário de NotÃcias, while subsequent releases, including Film and AM-FM, achieved Gold certification. Over the years, The Gift has performed extensively across Europe, Asia, and North America, appearing at major events such as SXSW, MIDEM, and Expo 2000, and sharing stages with artists including The Flaming Lips.
