For over four decades, he’s captivated audiences with his soul-drenched vocals, searing guitar work, and high-energy live shows. As frontman of the telepathically tight and wildly raucous Tommy Castro & The Painkillers, he’s released 17 albums that span a wide stylistic range—from horn-driven R&B and hot-blooded soul to gritty, stripped-down rock and electric blues. With his latest and eighth Alligator Records release, Closer To The Bone, Castro returns to his roots, delivering what he calls “a real blues record, the way they would have made them back in the day.” Produced by guitar master Christoffer “Kid” Andersen at San Jose’s Greaseland Studio, the album is Castro’s rawest and most direct blues effort to date.     Mark Your Calendars for the Greater Fall River City Nature Challenge! April 24 to April 27, 2026 Join the Trustees and Mass Audubon for a free guided exploration of the Tattapanum Trail to celebrate Arbor Day! Participants will learn how to identify different species of trees and other wildlife during this experience, as a part of the kick-off to the Greater Fall River City Nature Challenge. The City Nature Challenge is a free worldwide event where the public helps conservation science by taking photos of wild organisms in their own city and uploading them to iNaturalist – a website dedicated to identifying wildlife, for everyone! In the Greater Fall River area, The Trustees and Mass Audubon are teaming up to make it simple for everyone to join in. We’re hosting four free guided walks through different local habitats and offering free iNaturalist trainings so educators and community leaders can confidently run their own BioBlitz-style walks.     Open Draw for Teens provides a space in the library every other Saturday for teens to draw and socialize with other creative peers! Every session we will have ample time to free draw, and occasionally will host workshops on paper crafts like making zines, flipbooks, pop-up comics, as well as assorted drawing exercises. Bring your sketchbooks, drawing pads, loose paper, old magazines, your favorite pens and pencils… whatever it is you use to draw! Some basic materials will also be available to use each session. For teens ages 13 - 18.
