Times: There will be two informational meetings in the Tyska Barn at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to have all of your questions answered and to learn the details of our programs. Coggeshall Farm Museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cost: FREE for educators and one guest; Pre-registration required. Children’s Poetry Day

April is Poetry Month and the Children's Room will be celebrating with a presentation featuring poems and stories from some of children's literature's best loved poets! The morning will highlight such well-known poets as Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, Emily Dickinson, and Dr. Seuss! Kids can also enjoy an easy-to-make craft and a a guest appearance by the Cat in the Hat! 18th Century Market Faire (Blanket Sale) - Come to sell or buy your unwanted items (gently used). A recreated 18th Century Market Faire for the day at the Lafayette-Durfee House in Fall River. Come and visit Living Historians as they sell and trade their wares. Held inside the Lafayette-Durfee House and behind the house if the weather cooperates. Stop by to see what others may be selling to make room in their closets. Sutlers are welcome. If you make any 18th Century apparel, accessories, and edible goods, please consider selling at the house for a day. No fees or charges for selling. Stop by just to mingle and see friends.

A Day in the Life of a Whaling Voyage

Join Nancy Gentile of the New Bedford Whaling Museum and Capt. Michael Taylor, a British merchant mariner, for "A Day in the Life of a Whaling Voyage," an illustrated presentation that takes you into the world of a 19th-century New England whale ship. Learn what life was like aboard these mighty whaling vessels, watch a real-life demonstration of the harpoons that whalers used, and see baleen taken from the massive jaws of a whale. Drawing From Observation + Artist talk by Ruth Douzinas

The Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition (FRACC) and Fall River Museum of Contemporary Art (FRMoCA), invite you to witness the convergence of art and technology at a special event on April 28th from 3-5 pm. Hosted at 44 Troy, the event features a live drawing demonstration by New Bedford Research and Robotics (NBRR) showcasing their innovative robot. The event will begin at FR MoCA's space within 44 Troy, where attendees can observe NBRR's robot in action as it strikes "poses" while you draw from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Following the live drawing demonstration, participants will be guided to FRACC's Ignition Space, also located within 44 Troy. At FRACC's Ignition Space, artist Ruth Douzinas will lead an insightful artist talk from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Ruth, a New York-based artist and environmental engineer, will discuss her collaboration with NBRR and explore themes of environmental sustainability and human ingenuity in her work. Ruth's artwork is currently on view in the Ignition Space as part of the UMass Dartmouth CVPA MFA Thesis Exhibition, offering attendees a unique opportunity to engage with her creative process and explore her exploration of value and environmental change through ceramics and found materials.
