Poetry Reading & BYO Picnic
Horseneck PointPoetry on the beach! Join us for a poetic adventure. Getting there is half the fun! Come read a poem of your own creation OR a poem/excerpt of your favorite author (~5 minutes in length). Bring your portable poetry & meet at the Westport Town Beach/Cherry & Webb parking lot. It is approximately a 1 mile walk each way along beautiful Horseneck Beach. Don’t have a Westport Beach Sticker? Email us to be picked up at 10:45am at Lee’s Market (park in back by the gazebo). Don't forget a towel or blanket to relax on, and a sun hat & sunscreen! Alternatively, you may launch your paddleboard, kayak, or other small watercraft from a location of your choosing and meet us there! Shallow draft dinghies/motorboats can also be beached/anchored at the picnic site. The event is scheduled to begin with the outgoing tide & end with the incoming tide.

BMC Durfee High School 460 Elsbree St., Fall RiverIt's the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence... if only our founding fathers can agree to do it! 1776 follows John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the Second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence. ​The seminal event in American history blazes to vivid life in this most unconventional of Broadway hits. 1776 puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, often petty and ultimately noble figures, determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation.
