This project features an exceptional lineup of jazz  heavyweights, blending their unique talents to breathe new life into Ellington’s  classic repertoire. Bob Freeman’s arrangements of these Duke Ellington classics  were originally done for saxophonist David Fathead Newman and had never  previously been performed live until the debut in 2025. Raised in Muskegon, MI, he immersed himself in community theatre, numerous school choirs and productions, and classic rock fueled boat shed jams. A collegiate endeavor in English Literature lead to Kalamazoo, MI which catalyzed the formation and became the home base for Greensky. From humble beginnings, the band quickly became a festival favorite, having performed at such iconic events as Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Festival, Stagecoach, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and countless others in addition to headlining sold out performances at revered venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater, Ryman Auditorium, and The Chicago Theatre.
