Marc Berger in Concert: RIDE

Fall River Public Library 104 North Main St, Fall River, MA

Musician Marc Berger performs music from his acclaimed album RIDE, exploring the myths, landscapes, and people of the American West. Join us for this free concert by an artist whose unique folk/alt-country sound has been compared to Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. Inspired by Marc’s lifelong love affair with the American West RIDE captures the vastness and romance of the West while exploring its deep roots in the American psyche. From the haunting message and beat of “Twister” and the soul-shaking challenge of taming a wild horse in “Take it on the Chin”, to the sexy, mind-blowing, middle-of-nowhere encounter of “Time Waits For No Man” and on through seven more scenic stops, RIDE takes you on a dusty tour of the Great American Frontier. “Echoes the stark, evocative songs of Springsteen’s Nebraska, the cinematic tone of Mark Knopfler and the Lone Star alt-country charms of Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt." - Direct Current This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Ruthie Foster

Narrows Center for the Arts 16 Anawan St., Fall River, MA

Saturday, April 6, 2024 $43 Advance | $48 Day of Show Doors 7pm | Show 8pm Ruthie Foster’s ninth studio album represents a new high water mark for the veteran blues artist—a collection of songs possessing pure power, like a tidal wave of musical generosity. Healing Time finds Foster pushing her boundaries as a singer and songwriter more than ever before, creating a truly live-sounding atmosphere with the help of her band, who sound refreshingly loose and lived-in throughout these 12 songs. We’ve all been in need of some healing in recent times, and Foster’s latest provides a guide for how to move through the world with equal parts compassion and resolve.

The Mix Tape Mountain Bike Event

Mix Tape Gravel 28 Precinct Street, Lakeville, MA, United States

Meet The Mix Tape.  It's not a gravel ride.  It's not a road ride.  It's not a mountain bike ride.  It's not a gran fondo.  It's not a race.  Well it is a race... if you want it to be a race.  But you don't have to race.  But you can totally race.  So, it's kind of a gran fondo. The Mix Tape is our answer to the lack of something different down our way.  We wanted something that's as challenging as you want to make it with a little bit of everything.  Since we don't have many hills we had to get creative.  So we designed you a 50-60 mile rolling party that covers pavement, light trails, fire roads, a little singletrack, and some challenging tech that's brief but impactful.  What all of this means is that there's no perfect bike for this.  On the roads you'll hate your mountain bike and when you're climbing The Ledge you'll be wishing you had it.  So we feel that the perfect bike for this is the one with drop bars and the biggest tires that fit.  But you decide what works for you.  Just don't bring your road bike.  You won't […]
