Silent Book Club

Groundwork Fall River 2 Bank St, Fall River, MA

Join us on Thursday, May 23rd from 5-7pm at Groundwork Fall River for our Silent Book Club! If you’ve ever wanted to join a book club but you don’t have the time to finish the assigned reading each month, then Silent Book Club is your new happy place. With Silent Book Club, there is no pressure because there is no assigned book. Just show up with whatever book you’re currently reading, choose a comfy spot and settle in for an hour of silent reading. Afterward, connect with fellow book lovers and enjoy some casual conversation about books! Light snacks and refreshments are provided but feel free to bring your own. We are a dog friendly space. Friendly pups are welcome!

Wings on the Watuppa: Birdwatching in the Bioreserve

The City of Fall River in collaboration with Mass Audubon are excited to announce Wings on the Watuppa Reservation: Birdwatching in the Bioreserve. This is a free event on Saturday, May 25th, at the Watuppa Reservation at 2929 Blossom Road, Fall River, MA. The rain date will be June 1st. This event is made possible with funding through the Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation. Registration is required and space is limited. Binoculars and educational materials will be provided to registered participants. The event will be hosted in four timed sessions: Session 1: 8AM Session 2: 9AM Session 3: 10AM Session 4: 11AM Trolley transportation to the Watuppa Reservation is available from the Third Street parking lot. To utilize the trolley service please sign up using the trolley registration form found in your event registration confirmation email. Parking is also available on site. Please remember to wear supportive footwear and dress comfortably for the weather. Library Comic-Con!

Join us for the Fall River Public Library's annual Comic-Con! This year's con will have some old favorites AND some new surprises. Meet some of your favorite superheroes (and villains!), have your face painted in heroic fashion, create some cool crafts,  and more! This year will feature a visit from the New Bedford Ghostbusters including  their spectacular vehicle, Ecto-84. Come dressed as a superhero and you could win a prize! Monthly Children’s Workshop with Susan Drayton

Join us for these fantastic children’s events here at SoCo Art Labs, hosted by artist and author, Susan Drayton. This event, funded by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council and the Mass Cultural Council is free for children. Each month's activity will be different but will all strive to strengthen children's motor and problem solving skills through planning and making their very own artwork, while also focusing on literacy and creativity.
