On Saturday, April 27th, 2024, a celebration of Portuguese Poetry, Culture, and Fall River Poets called POESIA took place to honor the significant contributions made throughout history by the Portuguese to local, national, and international arts and culture.
The event opened with a Poetry Walk, meeting at the Gates of Fall River and our Sister City Ponta Delgada, Portugal, and then continued at the Monument of Poet João Teixeira de Medeiros at Heritage State Park. The afernoon culminated with a poetry reading and cultural reception at the Heritage State Park Visitors Center, including a reading of award-winning poems from the Middle and High School Poetry Contest.
