FALL RIVER — When most think of local culinary destinations, their mind tends to travel to popular touristy cities like Providence and Newport.

But what if you could cut the travel time to palate-pleasing and diverse cuisine to almost zero — and put those gas savings to better use?

Viva Fall River is on a mission to call Fall River-area foodies’ attention to the delicious dishes being served up right under their noses.

Things are heating up in kitchens across the city, as they gear up for the launch of Fall River Restaurant Week on Friday, March 25.

The event, spearheaded by Viva Fall River with support from One SouthCoast Chamber, will be closing out the month with a bang, showcasing all the flavor Fall River has to offer.

“We want to find ways to really highlight what we have that makes our community different than other communities,” said Patti Rego, director of Viva Fall River.

Participating restaurants include 110 Grill, Douro Steakhouse, Dunny’s Saloon, Fall River Grill, Scotties Pub, Shorty’s Pub, TA Restaurant, Tequila Lime Cantina and The Tipsy Toboggan.
