48th Annual Newport Navy Choristers “Christmas in Song” Concert
First Baptist Church of Fall River 228 North Main Street, Fall River, United StatesFirst Baptist Church will be hosting a Christmas concert in the coming weeks. This concert has always benefitted worthy causes in our community. This year, the proceeds from the concert will benefit the Branch Community Supper and Homeless Ministries at First Baptist Church. Our feeding ministry is marking the 42nd anniversary of feeding those in need of a meal with no questions asked. In 2026, we expect to serve 13-15,000 meals, if not more. If you didn’t know, Newport Navy Choristers is a singing group of retired and active-duty members of the United States Navy and have been coming to First Baptist Church for 47 years. This concert will be held at our church on Sunday, December 7th at 4:00 pm. With the cost of groceries skyrocketing as well as housing costs, we have seen an increase in people showing up on Tuesdays and Thursdays in need of a nutritious meal. Secondly, higher food costs are putting pressure on our annual budget, forcing us to increase our efforts to raise the funds to cover all the costs of this outreach. You can help with our efforts. Fall River Museum of Contemporary Art 44 Troy Street, Fall River, MA, United StatesOctober 10th - January 25th, 2025 Hours: Friday-Sunday, 12-5pm 44 Troy St, Fall River, MA Free & Open to the Public Featuring work by: Alex Tum, Karyn Nakamura, Serena Chang, and Hanna Umin.Post Scarcity Sculpture at FR MoCA gathers four artists—Alex Tum, Karyn Nakamura, Serena Chang, and Hanna Umin—whose practices operate as Futique Agents, working in the field of Art with material residue and technological detritus in a post-prophetic tense. Post Scarcity, the conceptual ground of the exhibition, names a politics that imagines an end to artificial scarcity enforced by capital, envisioning a condition where technological development and collective organization liberate human and non-human energies from cycles of deprivation. In this exhibition, sculpture is redefined through soldered brass, cast plaster, resin, foam, computational circuits, video systems, and found refuse. The show centers a biomechanical site where the synaptic future and the industrial past converge. These objects function as future antiques, coded with fragments of war material, biological trace, and machinic residue, at once evidentiary and prophetic. Post Scarcity Sculpture frames these works as Futique Agents of a holistic informational shift, revealing how surplus, waste, and neural invention together constitute the emergent matter of social and aesthetic revolution.
