An Austin native\, Venson has shared the stage with icons like Gary Clark Jr and Melissa Etheridge and even performed with Alanis Morissette and Lainey Wilson at the 2023 CMT Awards and in 2024 Venson was selected to perform as part of Rolling Stone’s Future of Music showcase at SXSW.\nVenson’s breakthrough album Joy received critical acclaim upon its release in 2019\, and while the pandemic stood in the way of touring plans for the next year\, Venson nonetheless found new levels of fame with her livestreaming presence throughout 2020\, which led to her landing the #9 position on Pollstar’s Top 50 Livestreamers list for the year and a booking on the legendary Austin City Limits. \nIn 2021 Venson collaborated with renowned producer Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam\, U2) on Love Transcends\, a love letter to Texas blues rock in all its forms. DESCRIPTION:What’s a vernal pool? During this family-friendly hike\, you’ll learn about these ephemeral wonders and investigate how nature changes in the spring season. Vernal pool hikes are extra special at Copicut Woods\, where you can look and listen for woodpeckers at field edges and warblers in the thickets. You’ll also wander along Shockley trail and\, deeper into the woods\, past brooks and giant boulders\, rock outcrops\, and cellar holes. Magnifying glasses and binoculars will be provided to best appreciate the wildflowers\, tadpoles\, and other signs of spring! \n\n\n\nThis program is part of a three-part Vernal Pool Explorers series at Copicut Woods. Participants are welcome to attend any number of sessions—each program works as a standalone experience or can be paired with two or three for a deeper exploration. There is no requirement to attend all sessions. \n\n\n\nPart 1: Sunday\, April 19Part 2: Sunday\, May 17Part 3: Sunday\, June 7 \n\n\n\nFirst time at Copicut? This will be an easy to moderate walk along dirt trails with slight inclines in some areas. You can expect semi-rocky terrain and exposed roots in some areas of the trail. The path taken will be determined based on where we are most likely to hear or see wildlife and find vernal pools. Parking is available at the entrance to the trailhead. \n\n\n\nPre-registration is required for this event. In the event of cancellation\, you will be notified via the email address you used to register and refunded in full within 14 business days.
