The hand knitting technique is a life long skill that is therapeutic\, meditative and fun. \n\n\n\nNEW: You may now choose your yarn amount! Are you coming just to learn the technique and only want one skein to practice on? We’ve got you! For blanket making\, please view the photo below to see a rough estimate of what a blanket using 4 skeins (standard) looks like\, 5 skeins\, 6 skeins…etc. DISCLAIMER: Final blanket dimensions vary based on each individual’s knitting gauge (ie.\, if you knit tight\, your blanket will be smaller and more compact than someone who knits looser). \n\n\n\nTable space diminishes as blankets get larger. You are welcome to bring a small pillow or yoga mat to sit on\, should you choose to move to the floor for more space as your blanket gets taller. \n\n\n\nBags will not be provided. If you don’t wish carry your project\, we encourage you to bring a large tote to carry your blanket and any working yarn home in. \n\n\n\nWe will be in touch a few days prior to the event to share our color options. There will be at least 3 colors to choose from\, including neutrals! \n\n\n\nCANCELLATION POLICY: Due to inventory and limited spacing\, we are unable to issue full refunds. DESCRIPTION:What’s a vernal pool? During this family-friendly hike\, you’ll learn about these ephemeral wonders and investigate how nature changes in the spring season. Vernal pool hikes are extra special at Copicut Woods\, where you can look and listen for woodpeckers at field edges and warblers in the thickets. You’ll also wander along Shockley trail and\, deeper into the woods\, past brooks and giant boulders\, rock outcrops\, and cellar holes. Magnifying glasses and binoculars will be provided to best appreciate the wildflowers\, tadpoles\, and other signs of spring! \n\n\n\nThis program is part of a three-part Vernal Pool Explorers series at Copicut Woods. Participants are welcome to attend any number of sessions—each program works as a standalone experience or can be paired with two or three for a deeper exploration. There is no requirement to attend all sessions. \n\n\n\nPart 1: Sunday\, April 19Part 2: Sunday\, May 17Part 3: Sunday\, June 7 \n\n\n\nFirst time at Copicut? This will be an easy to moderate walk along dirt trails with slight inclines in some areas. You can expect semi-rocky terrain and exposed roots in some areas of the trail. The path taken will be determined based on where we are most likely to hear or see wildlife and find vernal pools. Parking is available at the entrance to the trailhead. \n\n\n\nPre-registration is required for this event.
