SUMMARY:Chunky Knit Blanket Party
DESCRIPTION:Chunky knit blankets are all the rage lately and you’ll be surprised how easy they are to make! The hand knitting technique is a life long skill that is therapeutic\, meditative and fun. \n\n\n\nNEW: You may now choose your yarn amount! Are you coming just to learn the technique and only want one skein to practice on? We’ve got you! For blanket making\, please view the photo below to see a rough estimate of what a blanket using 4 skeins (standard) looks like\, 5 skeins\, 6 skeins…etc. DISCLAIMER: Final blanket dimensions vary based on each individual’s knitting gauge (ie.\, if you knit tight\, your blanket will be smaller and more compact than someone who knits looser). \n\n\n\nTable space diminishes as blankets get larger. You are welcome to bring a small pillow or yoga mat to sit on\, should you choose to move to the floor for more space as your blanket gets taller. \n\n\n\nBags will not be provided. If you don’t wish carry your project\, we encourage you to bring a large tote to carry your blanket and any working yarn home in. \n\n\n\nWe will be in touch a few days prior to the event to share our color options. There will be at least 3 colors to choose from\, including neutrals! \n\n\n\nCANCELLATION POLICY: Due to inventory and limited spacing\, we are unable to issue full refunds. If a conflict arises and you would like to attend one of our other events instead\, you must notify us prior to 2 weeks of the event. Thank you for understanding!

SUMMARY:Tommy Castro & The Painkillers
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, April 23\, 2026\n$36 Advance | $38 Day of Show\n[all-in pricing\, no additional fees]\nDoors 7pm | Show 8pm \nMultiple award-winning guitarist\, vocalist\, and bandleader Tommy Castro is a California-based blues and rock powerhouse. For over four decades\, he’s captivated audiences with his soul-drenched vocals\, searing guitar work\, and high-energy live shows. As frontman of the telepathically tight and wildly raucous Tommy Castro & The Painkillers\, he’s released 17 albums that span a wide stylistic range—from horn-driven R&B and hot-blooded soul to gritty\, stripped-down rock and electric blues.\n\nWith his latest and eighth Alligator Records release\, Closer To The Bone\, Castro returns to his roots\, delivering what he calls “a real blues record\, the way they would have made them back in the day.” Produced by guitar master Christoffer “Kid” Andersen at San Jose’s Greaseland Studio\, the album is Castro’s rawest and most direct blues effort to date. \nThe album features standout originals like Ain’t Worth The Heartache\, Can’t Catch A Break\, and Crazy Woman Blues\, alongside deep-cut covers of songs by Castro’s friends and influences—Johnny Nitro\, Magic Slim\, Ron Thompson\, Chris Cain\, and more. Guest appearances include Rick Estrin\, Billy Branch\, Deanna Bogart\, Chris Cain\, Jim Pugh\, and gospel harmonies from The Sons Of The Soul Revivers. \nBorn in San Jose in 1955\, Castro picked up the guitar at age 10 and was inspired by icons like Elvin Bishop\, Taj Mahal\, and Mike Bloomfield. He absorbed everything from Ike & Tina Turner to John Lee Hooker and Buddy Guy\, developing a uniquely uplifting and soulful style rooted in blues\, R&B\, and funk. After early stints with Bay Area bands including NiteCry and The Dynatones\, Castro formed the first Tommy Castro Band in 1992. \nCastro’s career took off when his band became the house band on NBC’s Comedy Showcase\, airing after Saturday Night Live. He soon built a reputation as a must-see live act\, touring relentlessly and releasing acclaimed albums with Blind Pig\, Telarc\, 33rd Street\, and eventually Alligator Records\, where his 2009 debut Hard Believer marked a new chapter of critical and commercial success. \nNotable releases include The Devil You Know (2014)\, Stompin’ Ground (2017)\, Killin’ It – Live (2019)\, and A Bluesman Came To Town (2021)\, which AllMusic hailed as “a towering achievement.” \nCastro is one of the most decorated artists in contemporary blues\, winning 10 Blues Music Awards\, including four B.B. King Entertainer of the Year honors—the genre’s highest accolade. His no-frills\, 150-shows-a-year approach has earned him a fiercely loyal fanbase and praise from legends like Joe Bonamassa\, who says\, “Tommy has always been top of the heap among blues guitar players. He always puts on a great show.” \nWith Closer To The Bone\, Tommy Castro strips it all back to deliver an album brimming with grit\, fire\, and authenticity. “This is the deeper blues side of me\,” says Castro. “With these songs\, I am at my most authentic.”

SUMMARY:Pure Dance
DESCRIPTION:On April 25th at 7pm and April 26th at 1:30pm\, Ballet Rhode Island makes its first-ever appearance at Bristol Community College\, bringing the contemporary ballet program Pure Dance to the Margaret L. Jackson Arts Center! Tickets here. \nStriking contrast and kinetic beauty define Pure Dance\, a bold celebration of what ballet can be today – athletic\, expressive\, and deeply human. Designed for both first-time dancegoers and seasoned audiences\, the program offers a dynamic journey through contemporary ballet that highlights the moving body as both instrument and storyteller. \nFrom the effervescent brilliance of George Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante\, to the meditative intimacy of Christopher Wheeldon’s Liturgy\, to the raw contemporary pulse of Yury Yanowsky’s Fading Creatures\, Pure Dance reveals ballet as an art form that is alive\, relevant\, and accessible. Set to gorgeous music and performed by Ballet RI’s professional artists\, this unforgettable experience is just a short drive away\, and an open invitation to come along for the ride. \nFollowing each performance\, audiences are invited to stay for a Meet the Ballerina experience\, offering a rare opportunity to connect directly with the artists\, ask questions\, and gain insight into the creative process behind the performance. These post-show conversations are designed to break down barriers\, welcome curiosity\, and deepen the audience’s connection to the art form. \nBallet Rhode Island continues to evolve through innovation\, connection\, and a commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement. This inspiring program is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Bank Five\, a partner dedicated to uplifting local communities and fostering long-term growth across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Through this partnership\, discounted tickets are available for Bristol Community College students\, ensuring continued accessibility to the arts. \nNow in the midst of its bold 48th season\, Ballet Rhode Island performs across six theaters in Rhode Island and Massachusetts\, offering 54 opportunities to experience the power of dance. Season 48 reflects Ballet RI’s continued growth as a leading voice in the performing arts throughout New England. \nDiscover the movement that starts at home and soars across the region. Step away from the screen\, into the theater\, and experience ballet as it is today\, vibrant\, welcoming\, and alive\, with Pure Dance. \n“Through bold partnerships\, deep community connection\, and fearless artistic innovation\, we’re building a new future for ballet.” \n— Kathleen Breen Combes\, Artistic Executive Director\, Ballet Rhode Island \nFor more information and to purchase tickets to Pure Dance\, visit \nwww.balletri.org/season-48-performances/
