Raised in Muskegon\, MI\, he immersed himself in community theatre\, numerous school choirs and productions\, and classic rock fueled boat shed jams. A collegiate endeavor in English Literature lead to Kalamazoo\, MI which catalyzed the formation and became the home base for Greensky. From humble beginnings\, the band quickly became a festival favorite\, having performed at such iconic events as Bonnaroo\, Austin City Limits Festival\, Stagecoach\, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and countless others in addition to headlining sold out performances at revered venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater\, Ryman Auditorium\, and The Chicago Theatre. “Greensky are hardly strictly bluegrass and\, yet\, representing the genre for a whole new generation\,” claimed Rolling Stone in 2010. Recorded works have landed on several Billboard charts including #1 placement on the Bluegrass charts.

DESCRIPTION:What’s a vernal pool? During this family-friendly hike\, you’ll learn about these ephemeral wonders and investigate how nature changes in the spring season. Vernal pool hikes are extra special at Copicut Woods\, where you can look and listen for woodpeckers at field edges and warblers in the thickets. You’ll also wander along Shockley trail and\, deeper into the woods\, past brooks and giant boulders\, rock outcrops\, and cellar holes. Magnifying glasses and binoculars will be provided to best appreciate the wildflowers\, tadpoles\, and other signs of spring! \n\n\n\nThis program is part of a three-part Vernal Pool Explorers series at Copicut Woods. Participants are welcome to attend any number of sessions—each program works as a standalone experience or can be paired with two or three for a deeper exploration. There is no requirement to attend all sessions. \n\n\n\nPart 1: Sunday\, April 19Part 2: Sunday\, May 17Part 3: Sunday\, June 7 \n\n\n\nFirst time at Copicut? This will be an easy to moderate walk along dirt trails with slight inclines in some areas. You can expect semi-rocky terrain and exposed roots in some areas of the trail. The path taken will be determined based on where we are most likely to hear or see wildlife and find vernal pools. Parking is available at the entrance to the trailhead. \n\n\n\nPre-registration is required for this event.
