Walk’n Mass Volkssport Club Fall River Walking Event
April 23 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Fall River walking event planned for April 23
FALL RIVER — The Walk ‘n Mass Volkssport Club invites walkers to complete a 5K or 10K (3.1 mile or 6.2 mile) walk route in Fall River on Saturday, April 23. This is a walk-at-your-own pace, just-for-fun event in your own backyard.
The start point is Stop and Shop, 501 Rodman St. Registration for the walking event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon.
This event is free to those who wish to participate without receiving IVV Credit. There is a $3 fee for those participating in the AVA/IVV achievement program. Donations are accepted. The 5km and 10km routes are on flat, paved surfaces.
Both walk routes follow along the Quequechan River Rail Trail traveling over bridges and boardwalks. There are plenty of water fowl sightings along the river trail walk.
Walkers will see an original piece of track along the route and walkers will pass by many former mill buildings built along the river to harness its power. The 10km route continues under highway overpasses heading to South Watuppa Pond, the third largest naturally occurring body of water in Massachusetts.
Volkssporting events sponsored by Walk ‘n Mass Volkssport Club promote fun, fitness and friendship through non-competitive walking and biking and are free to the public.
There is also an achievement awards program through the American Volkssport Association (AVA). For further information, contact Karen Kolaczyk at 508-673-2374 or karenp53@verizon.net. You may also contact www.walknmass.org for this event and future events.
