The Friends of the Fall River Public Library welcome nationally acclaimed authors (and brothers!) Peter Orner and Eric Orner, who will share stories from their most recent books, Peter Orner’s Still No Word From You: Notes in the Margins and Eric Orner’s Smahtguy: The Life and Times of Barney Frank.
Eric Orner is a cartoonist, animator, and writer whose newspaper cartoon strip, The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green, ran from 1990-2005 and was adapted into a feature film. His work has been published in The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, the San Francisco Chronicle, and The New Republic, among others. Orner has been nominated for the Lambda Literary Award and the Small Press Expo’s Ignatz Award. His graphic nonfiction work, Smahtguy, focuses on iconic Massachusetts congressman Barney Frank, who served the Southcoast for many years.
Peter Orner is the author of two novels, two story collections and a book of essays. He is a professor of English and Creative Writing at Dartmouth College and spent 2016 and 2017 on a fellowship teaching in Namibia. his writing has appeared in The Atlantic, The New York Times, Paris Review, and many other journals. His work has been anthologized in Best American Stories, and Best American Nonrequired Reading and has won a Pushcart Prize. His latest work, Still No Word from You, is a collection of essays and intimate stories that meld the lived life and the reading life.
These two acclaimed, award-winning authors will talk about their work, share excerpts, and be available to sign books, which will be for sale at the event through our bookseller partner, Ink Fish Books of Warren, RI.
