Narrows Center for the Arts
A Table for many is Fabric’s temporary pop-up restaurant with performances and culinary creations by chefs and artists. This dinner has the format of a performance lecture where the artists invite the audience for a collective cooking session. It’s the result of an artist residency developed in Norway around cod history. Semiotics of the Cod explores the relationship between Portugal and Norway by using cod (bacalhau) – the national Portuguese dish – to analyze and deconstruct the Portuguese imagery around this fish, addressing historical, political, economic and social issues. Through an investigation into the trading relationships surrounding this industry, and through the construction of their performance/installation space, the artists explore conversations related to capitalism, sexuality, and gender. — Tickets are available here: 35$ (includes food and beverage) Duration: 2hr — A Table for many #2 is brought to you with the support of FLAD – Luso-American Foundation for Development, AIDIL wines & Liquors & Esporão & Portugalia
