The gallery reopens on November 10 with an exhibition called Eye of the Beholder (Don’t Close Your Eyes): Ukrainian Artists Respond to the War. The exhibition will continue through December 22.
Hanna Melnyczuk (US) and Halyna Andrusenko (UKR) have coordinated an international effort to bring the work of 27 artists to the gallery. The bravery and commitment of everyone in this project has been extraordinary. The work has been arriving in small batches since July and we cannot wait for you to experience this very powerful body of work. There will be over 120 pieces on display. These works invoke the resolve and the anguish of the Ukrainian people and what they are experiencing as events unfold.
Hanna has also coordinated a companion exhibition (November 3-26) at the New Art Center in Newton.
The exhibitions bring together the works of 26 artists from Ukraine who respond to the tragedy of the war in different way Some of the works are universal others are more specific. Each artist brings his or her vision of this homible time in history
All works will be for sale and proceeds will be 50% to the artist and 50% to a Humanitarian Organization
